The rugged Maine coast is epitomized by Acadia National Park and Mt. Desert Island. Follow the road up to Cadillac Mountain to take in the sunrise from this unmatched vantage point. On the eastern edge, the impressive Beehive Trail heads vertically uphill from Sand Beach, and the carriage trails meander through the narrow valleys and along the edges of a handful of freshwater inland ponds.
