Denver, Colorado sits right at the western edge of the flat, mile-high Great Plains. Continue west from downtown along the I-70 corridor, and conditions change quickly. The Front Range begins abruptly, where you begin to climb up into the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Just north of the highway at the transition between plains and mountains is the city of Golden, home to two large plateaus known as the North and South Table Mountains. Traveling west from here, you wind through the steep and narrow Clear Creek Canyon toward ski country. South of Golden and I-70 is the town of Morrison, home to Dinosaur Ridge and Red Rocks Amphitheatre. West from Morrison, adventure through the mountain towns of Evergreen and Conifer.
