The isolated interior of southern Alaska is home to North America's tallest mountain.  Soaring 20,310 ft (6,190.5 m) above sea level, Denali's steep slopes and numerous ridge lines are surrounded by massive glaciers flowing in every direction from the peak.  The Kahiltna Glacier, longest in the Alaska Range, heads south from the peak and stretches 44 miles in length.  The Peters Glacier and Muldrow Glacier end in the McKinley River in the flat tundra of Tanana Valley off the north slope of the mountain range.
